Document Scanner
Turn photos of documents and receipts into a clean, straight PDF: automatic edge detection, perspective fix, shadow removal, black and white.
Photograph a document, a receipt, a form or handwritten notes with your phone, open the photos here, and get a PDF that looks like it came from a scanner. The page's corners are found automatically and the photo is straightened, even when it was taken at an angle; drag the corners if they need adjusting. Choose Clean to remove shadows and make the background white, Black and white for crisp text, or keep the colour.
Add as many pages as you need, rotate or remove them, and save everything as one PDF on A4 or Letter pages, or as JPG images. No app, no account and no watermark, and your photos are processed on your device instead of being uploaded to a scanning service.
How to use Document Scanner
- Take a photo of each page from above, on a darker surface, and open the photos here.
- Check the blue outline on each page and drag the corners if needed.
- Choose Clean, Colour, Greyscale or Black and white, and rotate if needed.
- Save the PDF or the JPG images.
Features
- Automatic page edge detection
- Perspective correction for photos taken at an angle
- Shadow removal and white background (Clean)
- Black and white, greyscale or colour
- Several pages in one PDF, A4, Letter or original size
- No upload, no account, no watermark
Taking good photos
Put the document on a darker, plain surface such as a wooden table or a dark cloth, so its edges stand out. Hold the phone parallel to the page, fill most of the frame with it, and use daylight or a bright room without your own shadow falling on the paper. Tap the screen to focus on the text. Each photo should show one page with all four corners visible. Photos taken at a slight angle are fine; the scanner straightens them.
Choosing a look
Each page can use its own look; pick the one that suits the document.
| Look | What it does | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Clean | Evens out lighting, removes shadows, keeps colour | Most documents, forms with stamps or signatures |
| Colour | Straightens only | Photos, coloured brochures, ID cards |
| Greyscale | Removes colour | Printed letters, smaller files |
| Black and white | Turns each pixel black or white with a local threshold | Text documents, receipts, faxes |
How it works
The photo is reduced in size and the brightest large region, the paper, is found with an automatic threshold. Its extreme points become the four corners, which you can adjust. A perspective transform, calculated from those corners, maps the slanted page onto a rectangle, and every pixel of the output is sampled from the full-resolution photo. Clean divides each pixel by the average brightness around it, which flattens shadows and turns the paper white; black and white compares each pixel with that local average, so text stays readable even where the lighting is uneven.
After scanning
To make the text searchable and selectable, open the PDF in the OCR PDF tool, which recognises the text in many languages, including Hindi. Compress PDF can make a large scan smaller for e-mail or upload portals with size limits, and Merge PDF combines scans with other documents. For receipts and bills, scanning in black and white usually gives the smallest file.
Privacy compared with scanning apps
Many free scanner apps upload every page to their servers to process it, keep copies in an account, or add a watermark unless you pay. Identity cards, bank statements, medical reports and signed contracts are exactly the documents you would rather not hand to a third party. Here the photos are opened, straightened and turned into a PDF by your own browser, so the pages never leave your phone or computer, and nothing is stored once you close the tab.
Frequently asked questions
How do I scan a document with my phone?
Take a photo of each page, open this page in your phone's browser, choose the photos, check the corners and save the PDF.
Is this a CamScanner alternative?
Yes, for turning photos into clean PDFs. It runs in the browser, needs no app or account and adds no watermark.
What if the corners are wrong?
Drag the blue corner circles onto the page's corners, or press Whole photo to use the full picture.
Can I scan several pages into one PDF?
Yes. Choose all the photos at once or add more pages later; they are saved in order as one PDF.
Can it read the text?
Scans are images. Use the OCR PDF tool afterwards to make the text searchable.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. They are processed in your browser.
