Screen Recorder
Record your screen, a window or a browser tab with sound and microphone, right in the browser — no install, no watermark, saved as MP4 or WebM.
Record your whole screen, a single window or one browser tab, with the sound of what is playing and your own voice from the microphone. There is nothing to install, no account, no watermark and no time limit up to two hours per recording.
Screen recordings are perfect for tutorials, bug reports, presentations, online lessons and saving a video call for later. The recording is made by your browser on your own computer and saved as an MP4 or WebM video that you download directly; nothing is uploaded.
How to use Screen Recorder
- Choose whether to record the tab or screen sound and your microphone.
- Press Start recording and pick the screen, window or tab to share.
- Do what you want to record; use Pause and Resume if you need to.
- Press Stop recording (or Stop sharing in the browser bar) and download the video.
Features
- Entire screen, one window or a single browser tab
- Tab or system sound plus your microphone, mixed together
- Pause and resume in the same video
- Standard, high or maximum quality
- MP4 where the browser records it directly, otherwise WebM with MP4 conversion
- No watermark, no sign-up, nothing uploaded
Recording sound
Which sound can be recorded depends on what you share and on your browser. When you share a Chrome or Edge tab, tick Share tab audio in the sharing window to include the sound of that tab, such as a video or a call in the browser. When you share the entire screen on Windows, you can share the whole system sound. On a Mac, browsers usually cannot record the whole system sound, so share a tab to include sound.
Turn on Record my microphone to add your voice as a narration. The screen sound and your voice are mixed into one track, so they play together in any video player.
| What you share | Chrome and Edge | Firefox | Safari |
|---|---|---|---|
| Browser tab | Video and tab sound | Video | Video |
| Window | Video | Video | Video |
| Entire screen | Video, system sound on Windows | Video | Video |
| Microphone | Yes | Yes | Yes |
MP4 or WebM
Recent versions of Chrome and Edge can record MP4 directly, which plays everywhere, including on iPhones, in PowerPoint and on social media. Other browsers record WebM, an open format that plays in all modern browsers and in VLC. For WebM recordings the tool offers Convert to MP4, which re-encodes the video on your computer using its hardware video encoder.
Conversion takes longer for long or high-resolution recordings, so for long sessions keep the WebM file if it plays where you need it.
Tips for a clear recording
Close notifications and private tabs before you start, and share a single window or tab instead of the whole screen when only one program matters; this keeps private information out of the video and makes the text larger. Use High quality for normal screen content and Maximum for fast motion such as games or video playback.
If you record a presentation with your voice, use a headset microphone to avoid echo, and do a short test recording first to check the sound level.
Phones and tablets
Phone and tablet browsers do not allow websites to capture the screen. Android and iPhone both have a built-in screen recorder in the quick settings or the Control Centre; use that on mobile devices, and use this tool on a Windows, Mac, Linux or ChromeOS computer.
Frequently asked questions
Is the screen recorder free with no watermark?
Yes. It is free, adds no watermark and needs no account. One recording can be up to two hours long.
Is my recording uploaded?
No. The browser records on your computer and you download the video directly.
Why is there no sound in my recording?
Tab sound is only included if you tick Share tab audio when sharing a tab in Chrome or Edge. Whole system sound can be shared on Windows with the entire screen; on a Mac, share a tab to include sound.
Can I record my webcam too?
Not in this tool. It records the screen, its sound and your microphone.
Does it work on a phone?
No, phone browsers don't allow screen capture. Use the built-in screen recorder of Android or iOS.
How do I get an MP4?
Chrome and Edge usually record MP4 directly. If you get WebM, press Convert to MP4 to convert it on your computer.
What happens if I close the page while recording?
The recording stops and is lost, because it is kept in the page until you download it.
