Mock JSON Generator
Generate realistic fake JSON, NDJSON or CSV test data: names, e-mails, phones, addresses, dates, prices and custom lists, up to 10,000 records.
List the fields you need, give each a name and a type, and the generator fills in realistic fake data: names, e-mail addresses, phone numbers, cities, PIN codes, companies, job titles, numbers in a range, prices, dates, booleans, UUIDs, IP addresses, colours, text and values from your own list. Choose how many records you need, up to 10,000, and copy or download them as JSON, NDJSON or CSV.
Names, phone numbers and places can be Indian or international. Field names with dots, such as address.city, create nested objects. The same seed always produces the same data, so tests and screenshots are repeatable; press New seed for a fresh set.
How to use Mock JSON Generator
- Edit the fields: name, type and, for numbers and lists, the options.
- Choose the number of records, the region and the format.
- Change the seed for different data, or keep it to get the same data again.
- Copy or download the result.
Features
- About 30 field types, including custom lists
- Indian or international names, phones and places
- Nested objects with dotted names
- JSON, NDJSON or CSV output
- Repeatable results with a seed
- Up to 10,000 records, generated in your browser
Field types
Each record uses one invented person, so the name, e-mail and username in the same record belong together. Numbers, decimals and prices take a range such as 100-5000; lists take values separated by |, such as free|pro|business.
| Type | Example |
|---|---|
| Full name | Priya Iyer |
| priya.iyer42@example.com | |
| Phone (India) | +91 98123 45678 |
| City / PIN | Pune / 411045 |
| Company | Nova Logistics Pvt Ltd |
| Whole number 300000-2500000 | 1384920 |
| Price 1-1000 | 249.99 |
| Date | 2025-03-14 |
| UUID | 3b241101-e2bb-4255-8caf-4136c566a962 |
| List free|pro|business | pro |
Uses for mock data
Front-end developers use mock data to build pages before the real API exists, and to see how a layout copes with long names and many rows. Testers fill databases and forms with predictable records, and teachers and writers need sample data for exercises and documentation. Because the values are invented, mock data is safe to share in bug reports and screenshots, unlike copies of real customer data, which privacy laws such as the GDPR and India's DPDP Act protect.
JSON, NDJSON or CSV
JSON gives one array of objects, ready for a mock API response or a fixture file. NDJSON, newline-delimited JSON, puts one object per line, which suits log pipelines, streaming imports and tools such as BigQuery and Elasticsearch bulk loading. CSV opens in Excel and Google Sheets and imports into most databases; nested fields become columns with dotted names such as address.city.
Safe fake values
E-mail addresses use domains reserved for examples, such as example.com, so no real inbox receives test mail, and international phone numbers use the 555 range used for fiction. Names and places are common ones combined at random, so any resemblance to a real person is a coincidence. Do not use generated passwords for real accounts; use the Password Generator for that.
Building a mock API
To mimic a real endpoint, match its field names and nesting exactly, then save the JSON as a fixture file in your project or serve it with a mock server such as json-server, Mock Service Worker or the mock features of Postman. Generate a small set for unit tests, where every record can be checked, and a large set of several thousand records to test paging, sorting, search and performance. Keep the seed in your test code so a failing test always sees the same data, and change the region to check that the layout handles long names, accented letters and different phone formats.
Frequently asked questions
How do I create nested JSON?
Use dots in field names, such as address.city and address.pin; they become an address object.
Can I get the same data again?
Yes. Keep the same seed, fields and number of records and the output is identical.
How many records can I generate?
Up to 10,000 at once.
Can I use my own values?
Yes. Choose the type One of a list and enter values separated by |, such as red|green|blue.
Are the e-mail addresses real?
No. They use reserved example domains such as example.com, so nobody receives mail.
Is anything sent to a server?
No. The data is generated in your browser.
