Video Resizer
Resize a video to 1080p, 720p, 480p or an exact size, or reshape it for Reels, Shorts, TikTok (9:16), square (1:1) and 4:5 with bars or crop.
Change the size or shape of a video in a few clicks. Make a 4K or 1080p video 720p or 480p for faster sharing, give a landscape video the 9:16 vertical shape that Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and TikTok expect, make it square for a feed post or 4:5 for a portrait feed post, or type the exact width and height a website or app requires.
When the shape changes you decide what happens: Fit keeps the whole picture and adds black bars, Fill crops the edges so the frame is completely filled, and Stretch distorts the picture to fit. The sound is kept, and the result is an H.264 MP4 that plays everywhere. The Video Resizer runs in your browser with its built-in video engine, so the video is never uploaded.
How to use Video Resizer

- Choose a new size: a resolution, a social shape or Custom size.

Sizes and shapes
Resolution presets keep the video's shape and set its shorter side, so 720p means 1280 × 720 for a landscape video and 720 × 1280 for a vertical one; they never make a video larger than it is. Shape presets produce a fixed frame for social networks.
| Preset | Size | Use |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p / 720p / 480p / 360p | Shorter side 1080 / 720 / 480 / 360 | Smaller files, faster sharing, older devices |
| 16:9 landscape | 1920 × 1080 | YouTube, presentations, TVs |
| 9:16 vertical | 1080 × 1920 | Instagram Reels and Stories, YouTube Shorts, TikTok |
| 1:1 square | 1080 × 1080 | Feed posts on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn |
| 4:5 portrait | 1080 × 1350 | Instagram and Facebook portrait feed posts |
Fit, fill or stretch?
Fit scales the whole picture into the new frame and fills the rest with black bars, so nothing is lost — the usual choice for screen recordings and anything with text near the edges. Fill scales the picture until the frame is covered and crops what sticks out, which looks best for people and scenes centred in the shot; turning a landscape video into 9:16 this way keeps the middle third. Stretch fills the frame by distorting the picture and is rarely what you want, but some displays require an exact size.
Quality and file size
Reducing the resolution reduces the file size a lot, because there are fewer pixels to store: 720p has less than half the pixels of 1080p. Enlarging a video is possible but adds no detail — the result is softer, and the note tells you when the new size is larger than the original. The video is re-encoded at a high bitrate for the new size. To reach a specific file size such as 25 MB, use the Video Compressor, which also offers resolution limits.
Private in your browser
The video is read in pieces from your device and resized by your browser's WebCodecs engine, using your device's hardware encoder where available. Nothing is uploaded and there is no watermark or account. Files up to 2 GB can be opened, and every file is checked by its content first, so documents or pictures renamed as videos are refused with a clear message.
Frequently asked questions
How do I resize a video for Instagram Reels or TikTok?
Choose 9:16 vertical, then Fill to crop to the centre or Fit to keep the whole picture with bars, and press Resize video.
How do I change a video from 1080p to 720p?
Choose 720p. The shape stays the same and the file gets smaller.
Will resizing reduce quality?
Making a video smaller keeps it sharp at the new size. Making it larger can't add detail.
What is the difference between fit and fill?
Fit keeps the whole picture and adds black bars; Fill covers the frame and crops the edges.
Is my video uploaded?
No. Resizing happens in your browser.
What is the largest size?
Up to 3840 pixels wide or high (4K).
Does it keep the sound?
Yes, the sound is kept and stays in sync.
