Video Merger
Join several videos into one MP4 in the order you choose — different sizes and formats welcome, with black bars instead of stretching.
Combine clips into one video: holiday clips into a single film, recorded segments into one lesson, or several phone videos into one file to share. Add up to 20 videos, put them in the order you want with the up and down buttons, choose the output size, and the Video Merger joins them into a single MP4.
The videos don't have to match. Clips with a different size or orientation — a vertical phone video next to a landscape one — are fitted into the frame with black bars instead of being stretched or cropped, and clips without sound get silence so the picture and sound stay in step throughout. The merging happens in your browser using its built-in video engine, so your videos are never uploaded.
How to use Video Merger
- Add two or more videos (you can add more at any time).
- Put them in order with the up and down buttons; remove any you don't need.
- Choose the size: same as the first video, 1080p, 720p or 480p.
- Press Merge videos and download the result.
Features
- Joins up to 20 videos into one MP4.
- Reorder and remove clips before merging.
- Different sizes and orientations fitted with black bars.
- Silence added for clips without sound, so sound stays in sync.
- Output size: like the first video, 1080p, 720p or 480p.
- MP4, MOV, M4V, WebM and MKV in.
- Runs in your browser: no upload, no watermark.
How clips of different shapes are joined
All parts of a video file share one frame size, so every clip is scaled to fit that frame without changing its shape. The frame follows the first video in the list, or the size you choose. Move a different clip to the top to change the frame.
| Clip | Frame | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Landscape 16:9 | Landscape 16:9 | Fills the frame |
| Vertical 9:16 (phone) | Landscape 16:9 | Centred, black bars left and right |
| Landscape 16:9 | Vertical 9:16 | Centred, black bars above and below |
| Square 1:1 | Landscape 16:9 | Centred, black bars left and right |
Sound, frame rates and quality
Each clip keeps its own sound for exactly its own length; clips without a sound track are filled with silence, so the sound never drifts away from the picture later in the video. Clips with different frame rates are fine — each frame keeps its own timing. The merged video is re-encoded as H.264 with AAC sound at a high bitrate for the chosen size, which plays on phones, computers, TVs and every social network. Turn off Keep the sound for a silent video.
Tips for a good result
Put the clip with the shape you want for the whole video at the top: a vertical clip first gives a vertical video, ideal for Stories, Reels and Shorts. Trim clips first with the Video Trimmer so the merged video has no dead moments. If the result is too large to send, run it through the Video Compressor, or choose 720p here. Merging time depends on the total length and your device; phones take longer than computers.
Private and free
Online video joiners upload all your clips and process them on a server. Here the files are read directly from your device and joined by your browser's WebCodecs engine, which uses your device's hardware video encoder where available. Nothing is uploaded, there is no account, no queue and no watermark. Together the clips can be up to 2 GB.
Frequently asked questions
How do I merge videos?
Add the videos, arrange them with the up and down buttons and press Merge videos. You get one MP4 file.
Can I merge videos of different sizes?
Yes. Each clip is fitted into the frame with black bars where needed, never stretched.
Can I join a vertical and a horizontal video?
Yes. The frame follows the first video (or the size you choose); the other clip gets black bars.
How many videos can I merge?
Up to 20 at once, up to 2 GB in total.
Are my videos uploaded?
No. Merging happens in your browser and the videos stay on your device.
What format is the merged video?
MP4 with H.264 video and AAC sound (WebM in the few browsers without an H.264 encoder).
Why is merging slower than trimming?
Joining clips needs the picture to be re-encoded so all clips share one size and format.
